Vision problem: Myopia and astigmatism
Surgery: ReLEx SMILE and PSP Programme
Dr. Angelo Appiotti performed ReLEx Smile surgery with the aid of the PSP (Personal Sportsman Profile) programme, that he devised for all professional athletes to improve one’s vision and, most importantly, make it more stable, accurate and faster at any change in distance and light.
Surgery was needed to treat 5 dioptres of myopia in both eyes, associated with 0.75 dioptres of astigmatism, as the athlete’s thinner corneas could not be treated with other techniques (PRK or FemtoLASIK).
Recovery was fast and Roberta immediately saw a massive improvement in clarity and overall quality of vision, which will have a positive impact on her perception of details during training and competitions and on her future sports performance.
The final result was 16/10 natural visual acuity.
